Triority Circus

Contemporary circus and street shows

Triority Circus is a contemporary circus ensemble from Berlin, consisting of Çiğdem Gerwert, Paula Dieken, and Fryderyk Biehler. In their trio acrobatics, they explore new forms of physical storytelling and shift the classical structures of partner acrobatics. With their division of roles—woman as base, man as middle, woman as flyer—they present a rare constellation that has developed organically from their bodies and strengths.

In their style, they combine dance qualities with technical precision and emotional depth in an organic flow of movement. Transitions between figures, states, and roles are fluid, with deliberate interruptions setting dramatic accents.

They met at the children’s and youth circus. After many joint projects, they founded the trio in 2022 and graduated together from the “Flic Scuola di Circo” in Italy in 2024. Their long-standing collaboration is based on deep trust and a keen sense of each other.

With professional backgrounds as a social worker, civil engineer, and warehouse specialist, they bring diverse perspectives to the table—and a shared decision to devote themselves entirely to contemporary circus. They are currently training in Berlin and planning their first joint production.

Fryderyk Biehler

Fryderyk Biehler is a hand-to-hand artist from Berlin, whose other disciplines include physical theater, dance, and handstands. From 2020 to 2022, he attended “Die Etage” in Berlin, where he worked with various partners. Before making circus his profession, he completed training as a warehouse specialist.

Çiğdem Gerwert

Çiğdem Gerwert is a hand-to-hand artist from Berlin. She has been training at Circus Schatzinsel since she was 10 years old and gained further stage experience in the young ensemble of Circus Schatzinsel and at Theater Plexus. Before co-founding Triority Circus, she worked as a trained social worker.

Paula Dieken

Paula Dieken is a hand-to-hand base from Berlin and has been active in youth circus since she was 8 years old. For many years, she participated in various productions of the Schatzinsel children’s and youth circus and discovered her passion for the circus at an early age. She also took a detour via university and has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Projects

SHROUDED

SHROUDED is a planned one-hour circus production by Triority Circus that deals with the topic of depression. The aim is to create a piece for theater and big top that uses partner acrobatics, contemporary dance, and physical theater to make the often elusive inner world of depression physically and atmospherically tangible.

In fragmentary scenes, states such as inner turmoil, exhaustion, loss of control, but also moments of lightness and hope are made visible. Movement patterns such as carrying, circling, falling, or resistance are intended to reflect emotional dynamics and make depression tangible in a sensory way.

Triority Circus’s movement language combines acrobatic precision with emotional depth. Partner acrobatics become a physical metaphor: being carried, struggling for balance, suddenly falling, or losing control translate inner states into visible, physical images.

The project is accompanied by choreographer Francesco Sgró, who advises Triority Circus on dramaturgy and choreography. Rehearsals will begin in 2026, with the aim of premiering the piece at the Pfefferberg Theater Berlin in the fourth quarter.

SHROUDED is aimed at those affected, their families, and interested parties, and seeks to open up new avenues of understanding.
